Dominant groups

Analysis of the year of arrival for the overseas born Non-English speakers speaking population of Rockhampton Regional Council in 2021 compared to the total population in Rockhampton Regional Council shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who arrived before 2010, and a larger proportion of recent overseas arrivals (those who arrived between 2016 and 2021).

Overall, 42.6% of the overseas born Non-English speakers speaking population arrived before 2010, and 32.6% arrived during or after 2016, compared with 58.4% and 21.8% respectively for the total population in Rockhampton Regional Council.

The major differences between the year of arrival data of the Non-English speakers speaking population of Rockhampton and the total population in Rockhampton Regional Council were:

  • A larger percentage of arrivals between 2016 to Aug 2021 (32.6% compared to 21.8%)
  • A larger percentage of arrivals between 2001 to 2010 (33.1% compared to 26.0%)
