Dominant groups
Analysis of the language used at home by the population of Rockhampton in 2021 compared to Rockhampton City and Depot Hill shows that there was a larger proportion of people who used English only, and a similar proportion of those using a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).
Overall, 86.1% of the population used English only, and 6.5% used a non-English language, compared with 83.5% and 6.1% respectively for Rockhampton City and Depot Hill.
The dominant language used at home, other than English, in Rockhampton was Filipino/Tagalog, with 0.9% of the population, or 716 people using this language at home.
There were no major differences between Rockhampton and Rockhampton City and Depot Hill in 2021.
