Dominant groups

Analysis of the qualifications of recent overseas arrivals in Rockhampton Regional Council in 2021 compared to Regional QLD shows that there was a lower proportion of people holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a higher proportion of people with no formal qualifications.

Overall, 60.9% of recent overseas arrivals aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 33.8% had no qualifications, compared with 64.9% and 30.5% respectively for Regional QLD.

The major differences between qualifications held by the recent overseas arriving population of Rockhampton and Regional QLD were:

  • A larger percentage of people with No qualifications (33.8% compared to 30.5%)
  • A larger percentage of people with Bachelor or Higher degrees (44.0% compared to 42.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of people with Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (8.1% compared to 11.2%)
