Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Wider Darwin in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Public Administration and Safety (13,894 people or 18.6%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (10,156 people or 13.6%)
  • Construction (6,569 people or 8.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 30,619 people in total or 40.9% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the RDA Northern Territory employed 18.2% in Public Administration and Safety; 14.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.0% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Wider Darwin and the RDA Northern Territory were:
