Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in RDA Northern Territory in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Public Administration and Safety (19,442 people or 18.2%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (15,947 people or 14.9%)
  • Education and Training (10,038 people or 9.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 45,427 people in total or 42.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Australia employed 6.6% in Public Administration and Safety; 14.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.8% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the RDA Northern Territory and Australia were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (18.2% compared to 6.6%)
