Dominant groups

Analysis of the female five year age groups of the RDA Northern Territory in 2021 compared to Greater Darwin shows that there was a higher proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) and a lower proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 20.6% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 8.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 20.0% and 9.8% respectively for Greater Darwin.

The major differences between the female age structure of the RDA Northern Territory and Greater Darwin were:

  • A larger percentage of females aged 15 to 19 (6.0% compared to 5.4%)
