Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the non-English speaking resident population in City of Port Phillip in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (4,619 people or 36.4%)
- Managers (1,933 people or 15.2%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (1,329 people or 10.5%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 7,881 people in total or 62.1% of the employed resident population.
In comparison, the total population in City of Port Phillip employed 38.1% in Professionals; 20.4% in Managers; and 11.3% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the non-English speaking population of the City of Port Phillip and the total population in City of Port Phillip were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Labourers (7.0% compared to 3.7%)
- A larger percentage of people employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (9.2% compared to 7.6%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Managers (15.2% compared to 20.4%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Professionals (36.4% compared to 38.1%)

The largest changes in the occupations of non-English speaking residents between 2016 and 2021 in the City of Port Phillip were for those employed as:

- Labourers (+172 persons)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (+141 persons)
