Dominant groups

Analysis of household income levels for non-English speakers households in City of Port Phillip in 2021 compared to the total households in the City of Port Phillip shows that there was a smaller proportion of non-English speakers in high income households (those earning $3,000 per week or more) and a higher proportion of low income households (those earning less than $800 per week).

Overall, 31.3% of non-English speakers were in households who earned a high income, and 15.8% were in low income households, compared with 41.5% and 11.8% respectively for the total households in the City of Port Phillip.

The major differences between the incomes levels for non-English speakers in households in the City of Port Phillip and the total population in City of Port Phillip were:

  • A smaller percentage of people in households who earned $6,000 - $7,999 (4.7% compared to 7.5%)
