Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Rural East in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (107 people or 14.2%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (103 people or 13.7%)
  • Education and Training (70 people or 9.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 280 people in total or 37.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Playford employed 9.3% in Construction; 15.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 6.2% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Rural East and the City of Playford were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (14.2% compared to 9.3%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in education and training (9.3% compared to 6.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in retail trade (7.1% compared to 12.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in administrative and support services (2.0% compared to 5.0%)

The number of employed people in Rural East decreased by 6 between 2016 and 2021.
