Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Playford in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (6,038 people or 15.2%)
  • Retail Trade (4,804 people or 12.1%)
  • Manufacturing (3,935 people or 9.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 14,777 people in total or 37.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Adelaide employed 17.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.7% in Retail Trade; and 6.8% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Playford and Greater Adelaide were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (9.9% compared to 6.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (12.1% compared to 9.7%)
