Dominant groups

Analysis of household income levels for recent arrivals in the City of Playford shows that there was a smaller proportion of recent arrivals in high income households (those earning $3,000 per week or more) and a higher proportion in low income households (those earning less than $799 per week) compared to Greater Adelaide in 2021.

Overall, 9.2% of recent arrivals were in households that earned a high income, and 21.8% were in low income households, compared with 20.9% and 12.9% respectively for Greater Adelaide.

The major differences between household income levels of recent arrivals in the City of Playford and Greater Adelaide were:

  • A larger percentage of people in households who earned $800 - $999 (8.8% compared to 4.6%)
  • A larger percentage of people in households who earned $500 - $649 (5.4% compared to 2.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of people in households who earned $2,000 - $2,499 (11.4% compared to 16.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of people in households who earned $3,000 - $3,499 (3.2% compared to 7.3%)
