Dominant groups

Analysis of the car ownership of people born overseas in the City of Perth in 2021 compared to the total population in the City of Perth shows that 79.1% of people born overseas were in households that owned at least one car, while 19.5% did not, compared with 75.9% and 15.7% respectively in the total population in the City of Perth.

Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a larger proportion that owned just one car; a smaller proportion owned two cars; and a smaller proportion that owned three cars or more.

Overall, 58.5% of people born overseas were in households that owned one car; 17.3% owned two cars; and 3.3% owned three cars or more, compared with 51.9%; 19.8% and 4.3% respectively for the total population in the City of Perth.
