There were more male professionals in the City of Perth in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Perth in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (3,463 males or 38.3%)
  • Managers (1,404 males or 15.5%)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (1,120 males or 12.4%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 5,987 males in total or 66.2% of the employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Perth employed 20.5% in Professionals; 14.1% in Managers; and 23.4% in Technicians and Trades Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Perth and Greater Perth were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed as Professionals (38.3% compared to 20.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (12.4% compared to 23.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (5.2% compared to 11.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed as Labourers (7.2% compared to 10.5%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in City of Perth increased by 2,045 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of male residents between 2016 and 2021 in the City of Perth were for those employed as:

  • Professionals (+897 males)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (+219 males)
  • Machinery Operators And Drivers (+208 males)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+203 males)
