Dominant groups
Analysis of the share of the non-English speaking population attending educational institutions in the City of Perth in 2021 compared to the total population in the City of Perth shows that there was a higher proportion attending primary school, a similar proportion attending secondary school, and a higher proportion engaged in tertiary level education.
Overall, 3.2% of the non-English speaking population were attending primary school, 1.9% of the population were attending secondary institutions, and 19.2% were learning at a tertiary level, compared with 2.4%, 1.6% and 15.3% respectively for the total population in the City of Perth.
The major differences between the share of the non-English speaking population attending learning institutions in the City of Perth and the total population in the City of Perth were:
- A larger percentage of people attending University (19.2% compared to 15.3%)
- A larger percentage of people attending TAFE/Vocational (6.2% compared to 3.6%)
- A larger percentage of people attending other (3.3% compared to 1.8%)
