Dominant groups

Analysis of the female five year age groups of the City of Perth in 2021 compared to Greater Perth shows that there was a lower proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 7.2% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 10.9% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.2% and 16.7% respectively for Greater Perth.

The major differences between the female age structure of the City of Perth and Greater Perth were:

  • A larger percentage of females aged 25 to 29 (15.5% compared to 6.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females aged 20 to 24 (14.0% compared to 6.1%)
  • A larger percentage of females aged 30 to 34 (14.6% compared to 7.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of females aged 10 to 14 (1.6% compared to 6.1%)
