Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Londonderry in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Construction (380 people or 19.1%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (178 people or 8.9%)
- Retail Trade (168 people or 8.4%)
In combination, these three industries employed 726 people in total or 36.5% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Penrith City employed 12.0% in Construction; 13.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 10.0% in Retail Trade.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Londonderry and Penrith City were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (19.1% compared to 12.0%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (3.4% compared to 0.7%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in other services (6.1% compared to 3.7%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (8.9% compared to 13.2%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed people in Londonderry increased by 26 between 2016 and 2021.
There were no major differences in Londonderry between 2016 and 2021.
