Dominant groups

Analysis of the non-English speaking population in the City of Parramatta in 2021 compared to the total population in the City of Parramatta shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 16.9% of the non-English speaking population was aged between 0 and 14, and 9.9% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 18.2% and 12.5% respectively for the total population in the City of Parramatta.

The major differences between the age groups of the non-English speaking population in the City of Parramatta and the total population in the City of Parramatta were:

  • A larger percentage of people aged 35 to 39 (12.6% compared to 10.2%)
  • A larger percentage of people aged 30 to 34 (12.2% compared to 10.3%)
  • A larger percentage of people aged 40 to 44 (8.5% compared to 7.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of people aged 15 to 19 (3.5% compared to 4.5%)

  • 35 to 39 (+5,657 persons)
  • 40 to 44 (+3,621 persons)
  • 5 to 9 (+2,424 persons)
