City of Parramatta

Five year age groups

reset

There were 28,958 people in low income households living in the City of Parramatta, with largest age group being 65 to 69 year olds in 2021.

The age structure of the population is a key indicator of the residential role and function of an area, and who it houses. For low income households the age breakdown can tell the story of the area, in terms of whether the low incomes are predominantly due to age (eg. aged pensioners) or other factors. Areas with high pensioner populations, or tertiary students may both have low incomes but for different reasons.

Five year age groups present a classic age profile of the population. Each age group covers exactly five years, which enables direct comparison between each group.

To get a more complete picture the City of Parramatta's Age Structure for those in low income households should be viewed in conjunction with Dwelling Types, Tenure, and Occupations.
