Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Parkes Shire in 2016 compared to Regional NSW shows that there was a similar proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 24.9% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 11.4% were one-parent families, compared with 25.4% and 11.0% respectively for Regional NSW.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 26.9% compared to 25.5% in Regional NSW while the proportion of couples without children was 24.8% compared to 27.0% in Regional NSW.
