Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Central North District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (6,320 people or 18.8%)
  • Retail Trade (4,192 people or 12.4%)
  • Construction (3,640 people or 10.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 14,152 people in total or 42.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Onkaparinga employed 18.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.0% in Retail Trade; and 10.8% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the Central North District and the City of Onkaparinga were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (12.4% compared to 11.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (6.8% compared to 8.4%)
