Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the City of Onkaparinga compared to the Southern District shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 8.4% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 7.2% for the Southern District.

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in the Central North District and the Southern District were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (28.0% compared to 25.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (18.3% compared to 16.1%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 60 to 64 (9.6% compared to 7.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 85 and over (48.8% compared to 54.7%)

Emerging groups
