Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the City of Onkaparinga compared to the Northern District shows that there was a similar proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 5.3% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 5.7% for the Northern District.

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Sellicks Beach and the Northern District were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (81.3% compared to 50.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (11.4% compared to 6.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (10.5% compared to 24.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (10.0% compared to 13.6%)
