Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the City of Onkaparinga compared to the Central North District shows that there was a lower proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 7.2% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 8.4% for the Central North District.

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in the Southern District and the Central North District were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (54.7% compared to 48.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (25.8% compared to 28.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (16.1% compared to 18.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 60 to 64 (7.6% compared to 9.6%)

Emerging groups

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in the Southern District were in the age groups:

  • 20 to 59 (+162 persons)
