Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the City of Onkaparinga compared to Happy Valley shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 7.1% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 5.9% for Happy Valley.

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in McLaren Vale and Happy Valley were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 85 and over (48.5% compared to 45.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (2.8% compared to 6.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (12.4% compared to 15.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (19.1% compared to 22.3%)
