Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the Northern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a lower proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 4.0% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 5.2% for Greater Sydney.
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in NSROC Region and Greater Sydney were:
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (23.0% compared to 30.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (12.6% compared to 18.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (7.1% compared to 12.3%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 65 to 69 (4.8% compared to 8.9%)
Emerging groups
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in NSROC Region were in the age groups:
- 75 to 79 (+538 persons)
- 80 to 84 (+508 persons)
- 70 to 74 (+484 persons)
- 10 to 19 (+385 persons)
