Dominant groups
Analysis of the qualifications of the Portuguese speaking population in the Northern Beaches Council in 2021 compared to Greater Sydney shows that there was a higher proportion of people holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a lower proportion of people with no formal qualifications.
Overall, 83.6% of the Greater Sydney speaking population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 12.0% had no qualifications, compared with 67.6% and 27.9% respectively for Greater Sydney.
The major differences between qualifications held by the Portuguese speaking population of Northern Beaches Council area and Greater Sydney were:
- A larger percentage of people with Bachelor or Higher degrees (61.8% compared to 45.8%)
- A larger percentage of people with Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (13.7% compared to 10.9%)
