Northern Beaches Council area

Household type

reset

In the Northern Beaches Council, 29.7% of people reporting a need for assistance were in couples with children households.

The Northern Beaches Council's household and family structure is one of the most important demographic indicators. It reveals the area's residential role and function, era of settlement and provides key insights into the level of demand for services and facilities as most are related to age and household types.

For persons with a disability or need for assistance with core activities, the household type topic can reveal the extent to which they live alone (and therefore may require outside assistance) or have other family members available to assist. It is also likely to be correlated with age.

Please note that people with a disability living in an institutional form of accommodation (e.g. nursing home or hostel for the disabled) are not considered to be part of a household and are not included in this topic.

To continue building the story, the Northern Beaches Council's Household Summary should be viewed in conjunction with Age Structure and Dwelling Structure.
