Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Penrith City in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (13,464 people or 13.2%)
  • Construction (12,229 people or 12.0%)
  • Retail Trade (10,234 people or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 35,927 people in total or 35.2% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) employed 14.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.4% in Construction; and 9.9% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Penrith City and National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (12.0% compared to 10.4%)
