Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the National Growth Areas Alliance compared to National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 6.8% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 5.7% for National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA).

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Growth LGAs in Queensland and National Growth Areas Alliance (NGAA) were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (6.4% compared to 4.9%)
  • A larger percentage of persons aged 10 to 19 (5.8% compared to 4.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (29.4% compared to 31.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 75 to 79 (19.7% compared to 20.7%)

Emerging groups

The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in Growth LGAs in Queensland were in the age groups:

  • 20 to 59 (+4,265 persons)
  • 10 to 19 (+3,741 persons)
  • 75 to 79 (+2,877 persons)
  • 70 to 74 (+2,724 persons)
