Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Shire of Murray in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (667 females or 19.1%)
  • Retail Trade (461 females or 13.2%)
  • Education and Training (431 females or 12.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,559 females in total or 44.7% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Greater Perth employed 23.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.7% in Retail Trade; and 13.6% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the Shire of Murray and Greater Perth were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in retail trade (13.2% compared to 10.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in manufacturing (5.4% compared to 3.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (19.1% compared to 23.3%)
