Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Shire of Murray in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Mining (799 males or 20.6%)
  • Construction (617 males or 15.9%)
  • Manufacturing (602 males or 15.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,018 males in total or 52.1% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Perth employed 9.9% in Mining; 14.3% in Construction; and 7.4% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the Shire of Murray and Greater Perth were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in mining (20.6% compared to 9.9%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in manufacturing (15.6% compared to 7.4%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (4.4% compared to 0.8%)
