Analysis of the household/family types in Rural Remainder in 2021 compared to the Shire of Murray shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 29.2% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 7.3% were one-parent families, compared with 26.1% and 10.5% respectively for the Shire of Murray.
There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 19.0% compared to 23.0% in the Shire of Murray while the proportion of couples without children was 31.8% compared to 31.7% in the Shire of Murray.
