Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Mornington Peninsula Shire in 2016 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (9,006 people or 13.3%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (8,800 people or 13.0%)
  • Retail Trade (7,636 people or 11.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 25,442 people in total or 37.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 8.2% in Construction; 12.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 10.1% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Mornington Peninsula Shire and Greater Melbourne were:
