Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Hastings in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (612 people or 14.6%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (573 people or 13.7%)
  • Retail Trade (477 people or 11.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,662 people in total or 39.6% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Mornington Peninsula Shire employed 14.3% in Construction; 13.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 10.0% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Hastings and Mornington Peninsula Shire were:
