Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Mornington Peninsula Shire in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (10,839 people or 14.3%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (10,467 people or 13.8%)
  • Retail Trade (7,596 people or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 28,902 people in total or 38.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 9.3% in Construction; 13.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.4% in Retail Trade.
