The Nepean Ward is a thin finger of land that lies to the west of the Mornington Peninsula. It stretches towards Point Lonsdale across the entrance to Port of Philip Bay. To the north lies the Port of Philip Bay, the east tracks Truemans Road, the locality of Fingal, and Dundas Street. The southwest boundary runs along the Bass Straight.
