Dominant groups

Analysis of the country of birth of the population in the City of Moreland in 2016 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a similar proportion of people born overseas, and a similar proportion of people from a non-English speaking background.

Overall, 33.9% of the population was born overseas, and 28.6% were from a non-English speaking background, compared with 33.8% and 27.0% respectively for Greater Melbourne.

The largest non-English speaking country of birth in the City of Moreland was Italy, where 4.9% of the population, or 7,890 people, were born.
