Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Clayton in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,358 people or 14.4%)
  • Retail Trade (1,016 people or 10.8%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (1,004 people or 10.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,378 people in total or 35.8% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Monash employed 13.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.1% in Retail Trade; and 6.8% in Accommodation and Food Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Clayton and the City of Monash were:
