Dominant groups

Analysis of individual income levels in Mulgrave in 2021 compared to Mount Waverley shows that there was a lower proportion of people earning a high income (those earning $2,000 per week or more) and a higher proportion of low income people (those earning less than $500 per week).

Overall, 11.4% of the population earned a high income, and 36.6% earned a low income, compared with 16.1% and 34.7% respectively for Mount Waverley.

The major differences between Mulgrave's individual incomes and Mount Waverley's individual incomes were:

  • A larger percentage of persons who earned $400 - $499 (8.1% compared to 6.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons who earned $300 - $399 (8.1% compared to 6.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons who earned $3,500 or more (2.1% compared to 4.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons who earned $2,000 - $2,999 (7.7% compared to 9.1%)
