Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Clayton in 2011 compared to City of Monash shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 21.1% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 7.4% were one-parent families, compared with 35.6% and 9.6% respectively for City of Monash.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 21.0% compared to 19.3% in City of Monash while the proportion of couples without children was 21.8% compared to 25.3% in City of Monash.
