Analysis of car ownership in 2011, indicates 54% of households in the City of Monash had access to two or more motor vehicles, compared to 51% in Greater Melbourne.

Dominant groups

Analysis of the car ownership of the households in the City of Monash in 2011 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that 87.6% of the households owned at least one car, while 7.5% did not, compared with 84.8% and 9.0% respectively in Greater Melbourne.

Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a similar proportion who owned just one car; a larger proportion who owned two cars; and a similar proportion who owned three cars or more.

Overall, 33.5% of the households owned one car; 38.4% owned two cars; and 15.7% owned three cars or more, compared with 33.9%; 35.5% and 15.4% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
