Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of males in the City of Monash compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a similar proportion of males who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 4.9% of the male population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 5.0% for Greater Melbourne.
The major differences in the male age groups reporting a need for assistance in the City of Monash and Greater Melbourne were:
- A smaller percentage of males aged 5 to 9 (3.5% compared to 5.4%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 65 to 69 (6.2% compared to 8.1%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 60 to 64 (4.5% compared to 6.0%)
- A smaller percentage of males aged 10 to 19 (3.0% compared to 4.4%)
Emerging groups
The major differences in the male age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in the City of Monash were in the age groups:
