Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Hills Region in 2011 compared to the City of Mitcham shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 35.6% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 8.2% were one-parent families, compared with 33.1% and 8.6% respectively for the City of Mitcham.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 19.5% compared to 24.2% in the City of Mitcham while the proportion of couples without children was 31.5% compared to 27.4% in the City of Mitcham.
