Location and boundaries

Panorama is bounded by Springbank Road in the north, Strathcona Avenue and the railway line in the east, the northern edge of Watiparinga Reserve in the south, and a line running continuous of Grandview Drive, Grandview Drive and Goodwood Road in the west.

Name origin

Panorama is named for the views the suburb offers.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the late 1840s, with land used mainly for farming. Significant development did not occur until the early 1900s. Rapid growth took place from the 1920s through to the 1960s. Some growth took place on the slopes from the 1970s into the early 1990s. The population was relatively stable from the mid 1990s, a result of few new dwellings being added to the area and a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.
