Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Gloucester in 2021 compared to MidCoast Council area shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a similar proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 16.6% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 10.1% were one-parent families, compared with 17.5% and 10.5% respectively for MidCoast Council area.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 32.3% compared to 28.7% in MidCoast Council area while the proportion of couples without children was 32.8% compared to 32.9% in MidCoast Council area.
