Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Shire of Merredin in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (210 people or 14.9%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (151 people or 10.7%)
  • Retail Trade (136 people or 9.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 497 people in total or 35.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Regional WA employed 9.0% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 11.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.3% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the Shire of Merredin and Regional WA were:
