Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in the Shire of Merredin in 2021 compared to Regional WA shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 21.8% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 8.1% were one-parent families, compared with 23.8% and 8.7% respectively for Regional WA.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 26.6% compared to 23.2% in Regional WA while the proportion of couples without children was 26.1% compared to 25.7% in Regional WA.
