In 2021, there were more females working as professionals in the City of Melville than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in City of Melville in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (9,209 people or 36.1%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (5,167 people or 20.2%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (3,456 people or 13.5%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 17,832 people in total or 69.8% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, City of Canning - Total females employed 28.5% in Professionals; 17.6% in Clerical and Administrative Workers; and 19.0% in Community and Personal Service Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by females in the City of Melville and City of Canning - Total females were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed as Professionals (36.1% compared to 28.5%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed as Managers (10.6% compared to 7.5%)
