Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in City of Melville in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (5,965 females or 23.4%)
  • Education and Training (4,294 females or 16.8%)
  • Retail Trade (2,418 females or 9.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 12,677 females in total or 49.7% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Applecross employed 23.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.9% in Education and Training; and 8.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the City of Melville and Applecross were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (16.8% compared to 10.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (8.7% compared to 11.8%)
