Analysis of the household/family types of people aged 55 to 64 years in the City of Melville in 2021 compared to City of Canada Bay, shows that there was a similar proportion of people aged 55 to 64 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 38.0% of people aged 55 to 64 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 8.3% were in one-parent families, compared with 38.3% and 10.2% respectively for City of Canada Bay.
There was a lower proportion of people aged 55 to 64 years in lone person households and a higher proportion in couples without children.
